As I understand, the car was purchased abroad, by John Maderik of Woodside NY, while visiting family and I do know the car spent it's 1st few months on the road all over Europe. I have receipts for service and even an envelope with the only writing stating the oil was changed in Piestany, Czechslovakia on 8/2/63. Many documents were included with the car, some of which are the letter from VW thanking Mr. Maderik for his purchase, in German of course, the cars' passport, international insurance papers, and the papers when freight was arranged to bring the car back to the US.

If my timeline is correct, the car went from the original owner to a collector in Boston who stored it for many years then selling it to someone in WV who I believe was the person that had the car registered in N.O.N.A., from there the car went to Florida for little over a year and then to me.

The car has had one repaint about 18 years ago and retains the original interior. Everything on the car is correct with the exception of the later speedometer but a correct one has since been purchased and sent to Orange Empire Speedometer for refurbishing before installation.

My parts wish list includes: the ever so hard to find original seat material, mechanical parts such as any brake components, engine bits ranging from coil, tune up parts and anything somebody may have laying around. Vintage accessories are always nice too! NOS preferred but good usable/rebuildable parts are always welcome.
